Eastfield House

Design

Eastfield House is the last project completed by Fairstone Property in East London. It presented the opportunity to consolidate 10 years of experience, to create a well designed, well built and high performing building on a site that was previously derelict garages.

The building is designed so that each of the eight flats is dual aspect and has access to private outdoor space. Careful attention was also paid to thermal and acoustic design.

The material palette of predominantly London Stock effect bricks broken up by pale brick fins, was chosen to tie the clean modern facade design to its East London roots.

Build

It was important to us that Eastfield House was not only designed well, but also built to a very high standard. We purposely decided on a longer build phase than previous projects, in order to ensure each phase of the build was carried out to a very high standard.

A strong focus was put on acoustic performance, with additional acoustic layers in the intermediate floor build-ups, between steel structural components and in the wall build-ups between flats. This had the additional benefit of reducing movement in the structure.
