Warren View

Concept

Warren View is a project currently in planning stage and awaiting approval.

The concept for Warren View is to provide highly energy efficient, well built, but modestly sized starter homes directed at young couples and families looking to move out of the centre of Brighton and into the quieter area of Woodingdean.

There is a general lack of two and three bedroom homes in Brighton, and especially Woodingdean, so this scheme seeks to address this imbalance.

In order for the scheme to fit into the general typology of the area, yet stick to our values of modern and sustainable design, a traditional form and material palette were chosen, with an offset roof typology and internal timber frame bringing it into the 21st Century.

Design

Due to the nature and location of the site we decided it was important that the development minimised its impact on the surrounding area. To achieve this, we opted for a low overall building height, with a stepped design that blends into the existing topography of the site, as well as promoting sustainable travel over heavy car use.

The area in general has many different styles of building and we wanted to reflect this with slight variations to the two dwellings, whilst retaining a cohesive language. This was achieved through varying the floor plan and roof shape.
